Markotabödöge Roman Catholic Church

The Roman Catholic church bearing the name All Saints was built in 1752 in Baroque style. Today, on the exterior facade we see the statue of Mary and Saint John the Baptist. The sculptures of the main altar are beautiful pieces of artwork made in around 1750. The pulpit is also a valuable piece of artistic architecture. Plaques on the church walls honor the memories of the heroes and victims of the World Wars. The Baroque style Roman Catholic church was renovated in 2002, for its 250th anniversary.
City Hall

Károly Pleyer, the hotelier owner of the several story building previously functioning as a cafe and hotel, sold it to city leadership 1901. It was reconstructed several times throughout the decades. The most notable of these was in 1995 when the city facade was renovated according to Imre Makovecz and a tower was added above the entrance.
800 Year Memorial

When entering the municipality from the direction of Szigetköz, where the smith’s workshop once stood, a memorial park honors 800 years of a craft that has defined the lives of the municipality's residents and provided them with a livelihood. The sword points to long-lost arts such as swordsmithery as referenced by the name of the municipality. The village was part of Saint Laslo’s border protection system, a link on the chain of the western border. The boat expresses the closeness of the Moson Danube, the defining role water played in the life of the community. Fishing and river transit meant the livelihood of the village residents for centuries.
Csaplár Cross

A memorial cross was erected in 1906 at the southern exit of the village emblazoned with the words: “The Roman Catholic congregation of Mecser raises this cross to honor the glory of God.”
Bust of Ármin Vámbéry

The great Hungarian scientist and traveler, Ármin Vámbéry spent his childhood here. His adventurous life would provide enough material for several romantic, action-packed feature films. A bronze bust of the extraordinarily talented scholar was dedicated in 2001 on Vámbéry Square located in the town center.
Horváth Cross

To honor those who made it safely back from the war, the village had a memorial cross set in place in the municipality limits (on the right side of the road connecting Lébény and Mecsér) in 1925, the work was commissioned by Ferenc Horváth and his wife Magdolna Dudás.

Backwater

The distributary of the Danube left in its natural state on the outskirts of the municipality of Csicsó is an invaluable natural asset, it can be found west of the village. The main portion of the reservation comprises an irregularly shaped lake into which the Csiliz channel empties from the northwest.
