Millecentennial Memorial Column

The wooden grave marker (kopjafa) in the memorial park located at the crossing of Damjanich and Ady Endre Street is the work of László Bujtás (a local teacher) and was set in place by the local government to commemorate the millicentennial of the Conquest in the summer of 1996.

Statue of Saint John of Nepomuk

Archival documents attest to the fact that statue of Saint John of Nepomuk was already in its present place in 1780, in what was once the upper border of the village. It once ornamented the side of the road leading to Moson. Since 1971 it can be found built along with its base into a wall of the house at Hunyadi Street 1. The approximately 2,5-meter high statue’s brown base includes a relief of the Holy Ghost in the form of a dove and on the central portion above it, Baroque swirls, acanthus leaves and a coat of arms, also in Baroque style, emblazoned with text that is no longer legible.

Pauline Monastery

The building which rests upon a medieval base according to tradition was once a Pauline monastery. In the 17th century, the Jesuits gained ownership of it and they later had it reconstructed in Baroque style around 1700. The building gained its present form in a 1766 renovation.

Regner Cross

Lébény farmer and former 1948 national guardsmen János Regner had the stone cross standing by the road to Győrsövényház erected on his own land in 1912. The crucifix rests on a concrete base of three horizontal rectangular masses decreasing in size from bottom to top which continues in a smaller vertical rectangular mass of stone. Both have writing engraved into them. The stone cross was renovated with public donations on the 100th anniversary of its construction.

The historically furnished house preserved on Békavár Street was established in 1985. It is maintained by the City Cultural Center and showcases how the citizens of Bős lived in bygone years and strives to uphold local traditions.

Roman Milestone

The Roman commander Tiberius conquered Pannonia in 9 AD and Transdanubia as a part of the province of Pannonia became a part of the Empire as a border province. In the 2nd century, a Roman military fortification was built in Barátföldpuszta, which belongs to Lébény, as a part of the border protection system. The milestone which once stood on the road by the fortification was recovered from here during the course of archeological excavations. The stone column, an artifact upholding the memory of times long past, today ornaments the yard of a primary school.

Saint Anthony's Chapel

The chapel that can be seen today was reborn in 1891, its site had been home to a small church dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua, the patron saint of the poor and oppressed for centuries prior. The altar of the building consecrated on October 18, 1891, features a statue of the Virgin Mary of Lourdes and a stained glass window with Saint Anthony holding the baby Jesus can be seen above the altar. The chapel vestibule features the stations of the cross created in 1897 with a donation given by Mária Simon. The eight small chambers are ornamented with reliefs made in Tyrol. The group of pinewood statues was restored in 1977 by Pál Molnár from Győr and during the full renovation of the chapel, in the winter of 2003-2004, by Lívia Bujtásné Völgyesi and László Bujtás.

Saint Elizabeth Statue

The memorial was built by the Lébény local government to honor Saint Elizabeth, the patron saint of the poor and downtrodden, in the memorial year dedicated to the saint. The statue standing on a mass of limestone in the municipality of Süttő was made by László Bujtás (a local teacher and artist). It depicts the Árpád Dynasty princess descending stairs with roses in her apron and a memorial park was made around the work of art. It was consecrated on November 29, 2007.

Saint Florian Statue

A record from 1780 already mentions that the map of the municipality indicated the statue of Saint Florian on the old main square of the town beside where the former Saint Margaret Church and the parish once stood. Its base bears the date 1926, the year when it was moved from the main square to its current place, the square in front of the Church of Saint James. The statue depicting the patron of the drowned and those threatened by flood and fire is made of two main parts dating back to different times. The three-meter tall limestone column was already standing on the municipality's main square in 1780. the likeness of Saint Florian was carved in 1926 when the statue was moved. The memorial was restored by György Turi in the summer of 2008.
