Saitn Anne Chapel of Lucsony

The chapel was built in 1713 in to commemorate the end of an outbreak of the plague. The building has a wooden tower and above the entrance in a small chamber is an artistic sculptural rendering of the Virgin Mary.

Chapel of the Assumption of Our Lady with Crescent

The region's most well-known place of pilgrimage. Legend has it that the sick and wounded of the army retreating from the Turkish were healed by the waters of a miraculous spring and a fisherman later built a chapel on the spot.

56 Memorial Place on Gyász Square

The peaceful crowd hailing the revolution came under fire on October 26, 1956, at the border guards' barracks in the city. The site of the terrible barrage is commemorated by the statue titled Golgotha by Tibor Rieger along with 50 carved wooden grave markers (kopjafa) for the official number of victims, but according to eyewitnesses and relatives, 107 people lost their lives that day. The site of the fusillade bears the name of Gyász (grief) Square.

Saint Gotthard Church

The church we see here today was completed in the middle of the 18th century. The ornamental late Baroque decor and paintings were added with the support of Archduchess Maria Christina and her husband. This is the city's most significant Baroque building.

Church of Saint Nicholas

This complex of Baroque churches is unique throughout Hungary and is considered to be one of the seven wonders of Győr-Moson-Sopron County. Even from afar, it is already an impressive sight with its 47-meter tower rising gracefully toward the sky and its two chapels. It looks like a mother with her two children.
