Want to time-travel? Are you curious to see how rural folks lived and worked 100 years ago? If you think about it, it was not so long ago, maybe your great-grandparents were children at the time. The world has changed so much that we cannot imagine living without electricity, a bathroom or computers, but 100 years ago, people had none of these things. Take this tour and journey into the past, the exhibitions, historically furnished houses and activities will give you a peek at what country life was like back then.
The City National History House of Somorja acquaints the visitors with its certified medieval artifacts, documents showing the development of the city as well the different implements of the historical farm household, the hemp industry, and fishing.
An oven for baking bread was built in the Local History House's yard in 1987 allowing the museum to showcase the traditional process of baking bread and lángos (traditional Hungarian scone). An interactive gold-panning exhibit is open to groups. The Local History House has been in the ownership of the Csallóköz Museum since 1982.

The originally Baroque style castle was converted to classicist style in the 1800s. Today, this two-story structure is considered to be among Dunajská Streda's monument buildings. In the small park around it, we will find a wooden statue of György Lipcsei. The building houses the Csallóköz Museum. The permanent exhibition comprises 17 thematic units providing a comprehensive and faithful representation of the lives of the people living here. The ground floor houses archeological artifacts and fossils, the first floor features ethnographic and historical materials.
Commissioned by the Bishop of Veszprém, Márton Bíró Padányi, the spacious mansion with several floors planned for his brother István Bíró was finished in Pólkatelek in 1753. This was later to be known as the Sárga kastély (Yellow Castle) and expansive lands belonged to it. Later the Kondé family of Pókatelek gained ownership of it and had it renovated according to their own taste at the beginning of the 19th century (This was when the Kondé coat of arms was added to the facade and the huge stone turkey statue above it.)

This is the last of the hundreds of water mills that formerly operated in the region. The three-story, pure white building with a wheel 6 m in diameter catches the eye from afar. Today, it houses a permanent exhibition about water mills.
Among the last of the formerly hundreds of water mills operating in the region. Located in the picturesque banks of the Tőkési Distributary the three-story building with its enormous (6 m diameter) wheel is hard to miss even from afar. The Tőkés Mill is an undershot mill standing on the shore, a relative rarity in the Csallóköz. It gained its present form during a reconstruction in 1920. It was used for original purpose last in the 1940s. Today, it houses a permanent exhibition on water mills.
