The name of the next tour including the word “thermal” can be misleading as it is really a bicycle tour. We recommend it to those who would like to cycle, but also desire a little relaxation at the end of the day. The route we offer connects the medicinal and adventure spas of the Rye Island as part of a bicycle tour. The participants of the tour have the opportunity to visit each of the thermal spas, get to know the landscape of the Rye Island while cycling, and protect the Nature, as their emission is almost zero. The starting point is Komárom and the destination is Dunajská Streda. The chosen route is also favourable for those who are willing to cycle “only” to the destination, as there is an (indirect) train line between the two towns.
Komárom is located on the banks of the Danube River, once an important port town. It has been divided into two parts throughout history; the peacemakers established a town in Slovakia (Komárno) and a town in Hungary (Komárom) in the place of the former town. The town in Upper Hungary is also called North Komárom or Old Komárom, and it is the most important cultural and political centre of the Hungarians in Slovakia. While sightseeing is a great programme, the local thermal spa offers excellent swimming and bathing opportunities for its visitors.
The town of Veľký Meder is deservedly famous for its thermal spas, as well as for King Matthias, who is the main hero of a local legend. As in many places throughout Hungary, the king appeared here in disguise to do justice between the feudal lords and the inhabitants of the town. Also, the spa commemorates Matthias the Just, as its official name is Thermal Corvinus. The spa is located in a very pleasant environment, in an 80-hectare forest park and waits for its visitors with 13 outdoor and indoor pools.
The thermal spa on the border of the village of Topoľníky has been offering recreation, mainly for its local guests, since the 1980s. There are three pools in the spa, and the car campsite is also part of the spa. The nature surrounding the village should also be mentioned, as the local nature protection zone shows us the almost untouched environment of the Little Danube.
Dunajská Streda is the “football capital” of southern Slovakia because all football fans know the local football team. However, the local thermal and adventure spa is also popular among many people, and due to the favourable composition of its medicinal water, this town of the Rye Island attracts a large number of tourists all year round. The thermal water erupts from a depth of 1,600 meters and its surface temperature reaches 57 °C. There are a total of 10 outdoor and indoor pools on the 18-hectare area. The lake in the area of the spa offers a classic beach experience; it is suitable for both swimming and water sports.

Indeed even kings and emperors have spent time in this nation of ours for one reason or another, perhaps they were dealing out justice, sitting counsel or fighting on the battlefield. Walk the paths they once did and become acquainted with the artefacts and relics that uphold their memories, stop for a moment and experience living history.
