Felpéc Lutheran Church

This church, a building with monument status including medieval details was built in 1620 and was reconstructed in Baroque style in 1776-77. It was expanded in 1794. The church has a clock steeple that precedes the facade. The building has a level ceiling and an aisle with a gallery, the sanctum is enclosed by straight lines and contains a 19th-century pulpit altar. The altar painting depicts Jesus praying on the Mount of Olives. The red marble baptismal font was finished in 1905 and the organ, in 1910.

Flóris Rómer Museum of Art and History

The museum was founded in 1859, its establishment was initiated by the Benedictine monk from Győr, Flóris Rómer. The collections continued to grow throughout history, today the institution boasts 11 places for exhibitions. Among the museums more significant exhibitions are the Radnai Collection in the Esterhazy Palace, the Győr Graphic Design Workshop and Exhibition Hall located in the Napoleon House, the Margit Kovács Permanent Exhibition in the Kreszta House, the Vasilescu Collection in the Synagogue, the several collections showcased in the Apátúr House, the History of the Masonry Heater Exhibition in the Fruhmann House, the temporary exhibitions held in the Rómer House, the exhibition of the Castle Catacombs Lapidarium. The museum has a nationwide circle of collectors, it features, among others, the works of 20th century and contemporary Hungarian and international artists alike.

The Baroque church was built in 1752. Its furnishings are the following: a sarcophagus-shaped the main altar with kneeling saints, a Baroque work of art dating back to approximately 1750. There is a stone cross in the yard.

Rómer House

The wide variety of cultural programs offered by the Rómer House fills a gap in the life of the community. The events held here appeal to all ages, from children to the elderly. Among the most prominent are the ‘I love Cinema’ film screenings, the interactive plays put on by the Import Impró Association as well as a series of popular music concerts titled RómerKvelle, which foremost features up and coming talent. The Rómer House is also often home to exhibitions by contemporary artists, workshops, literary readings, and other similar programs. The aim of the Rómer House is to create a modern communal space where our cultural values are accessible to everyone.

Castle Catacombs, Lapidarium

A collection of Roman-era artifacts in Győr, a city located on the limes. The Lapidarium is located on a piece of the Győr Castle’s catacomb system.

Vastuskós (Iron log) House

Built in the 17th century, the Vastuskós (Iron Log) House is home to the art history collection of the journalist Imre Patkó (1922-1983). The building houses the works of contemporary artists, Lajos Kassák, Endre Bálint, Victor Vasarely and Béla Kondor among others, as well as East Asian, African, and Oceanian ethnographic objects. The building was named after the iron log located at one of its corners, which according to the legend, each traveling craftsman who stayed in Győr struck a nail into to commemorate their visit.

Bust of Béla Varga

Béla Varga was born in 1903 in Börcs. After the Second World War broke out, upon the request of Prime Minister Pál Teleki he took to dealing with the issue of the Polish refugees. He assisted the polish refugees in emigrating to countries west of Hungary. Varga organized the Polish High School in Balatonboglár. During the war, he took part in the national independence and resistance movement. Béla Varga was an internationally respected figure. He was given honorary Polish citizenship and General De Gaulle, president of France awarded him the National Order of Merit. Varga died on October 13, 1995, he was 92 years old.

Synagogue

The eclectic style synagogue was built between 1868-1870 by the Neologue Jewish congregation. The octagonal interior of the church, covered by a cupola and featuring a circular balcony is truly an impressive sight. The building was restored in 2006 houses a permanent exhibition as well as a variety of cultural programs.
