Arrabona EGTC

One of Hungary’s most significant monuments stands on the main square of Lébény, the Romanesque Saint James Church built in the 13th century. The walls of carved ashlar are imposing, only to be emphasized by the two gates and their beautiful 13th-century ornamental motifs.

Saint Florian Statue

A record from 1780 already mentions that the map of the municipality indicated the statue of Saint Florian on the old main square of the town beside where the former Saint Margaret Church and the parish once stood. Its base bears the date 1926, the year when it was moved from the main square to its current place, the square in front of the Church of Saint James. The statue depicting the patron of the drowned and those threatened by flood and fire is made of two main parts dating back to different times. The three-meter tall limestone column was already standing on the municipality's main square in 1780. the likeness of Saint Florian was carved in 1926 when the statue was moved. The memorial was restored by György Turi in the summer of 2008.

World War II Memorial

On May 23, 1992, a memorial for the local soldiers who had lost their lives in the Second World War was consecrated. The memorial was designed by László Bujtás. The three columns of black granite sheets uphold the memory of the citizens of Lébény who had fallen victim to the devastation of the war. Of them, 89 are war heroes, 21 are civilians and 19 Lébény citizens of Jewish faith who lost their lives in the concentration camps.

Saint Stephen Statue

The artwork commemorating the millennium of the Hungarian state ornaments the town’s main square since May 28, 2000. It was unveiled during the Millennial festivities in Lébény. The statue depicts Saint Stephen, the country’s founder as a young man with proud posture holding the symbols of power, the crown and the sword in his hand, as well as the country’s coat of arms. The statue was created by László Bujtás.
