The double cross was put in place in the park on Kerekes Square to honor one-thousand years of the Hungarian state.

The classicist style church was built in 1848. Its pulpit is also of classicist style, the crucifix is Baroque, the baptismal font was made in 1971. A flood damaged it in 1876 and thus, it needed to have its walls rebuilt. The church received an organ in 1906.

A memorial cross was erected in 1906 at the southern exit of the village emblazoned with the words: “The Roman Catholic congregation of Mecser raises this cross to honor the glory of God.”
