Arrabona EGTC

The first known church in the municipality was built by Charles III, father to Maria Theresa. The church stood for 80 years until Archduke Albert had the old church demolished to build the place of worship that stands to this day. The foundation stone was set on April 25, 1811, and to honor the holiday they wished to perform a cannon salute with a brass kuruc (anti-Habsburg rebel) cannon, however, when firing the shot, the cannon exploded. The unexpected event was commemorated as the cannon was built into the sacristy wall and a marble plaque on the church's wall marks the odd happening. The place of worship was completed in July of 1812 and consecrated by Bishop of Győr Jószef Vilt.
